After 41 years of serving as a WHC health care provider, Kay Rau is retiring from her full-time position as physician assistant.  She has worked as one of three mid-level practitioners for the WHC with her primary location in Napoleon’s clinic.
“Kay is a compassionate provider, going out of her way to become familiar with patients and families,” says Mark Rinehardt, CEO.  “She is respectful and professional to her fellow providers.  She uses good judgment when needing to consult with medical doctors regarding a patient’s condition.  We will miss her and her collaborative approach with colleagues to meet the needs of her patients.”
Her medical career began as a 20-year-old graduate with an associate degree from Dickinson State University.  Kay was the nurse administrator for several years at the WHC before she went back to school to earn her PA degree from UND.  Kay attributes her advancement as a mid-level practitioner to the extensive nursing experience the WHC gave her early on.
“I have worked with and taken care of so many wonderful people who have helped mold me into the person I am. There is no greater feeling of accomplishment than to help someone else feel better,” said Kay.  Although she is technically retiring, Kay plans to continue being a part of the WHC team by working on an “as needed basis” when other providers are ill or on vacation.  “I would like to thank all of the customers I have taken care of for having the confidence in me and for making my job a wonderful experience.  I could not have found a more fulfilling job had I searched the world over,” said Kay.
With the extra time on her hands, Kay is looking forward to more camping and fishing, travelling and visiting family, and working on house projects.  Thank you Kay Rau for your dedication, loyalty, and experience you have given to the WHC and our communities!
